Munnar

shit it’s so cold here. arrived in the evening, everywhere clouds, no jacket, yet. Munnar Bazaar, a few km next to Old Munnar, is a small place absolutely packed with shops. tea, spices, clothes, toys, traders, and especially homemade chocolate, all the Kerala-Stuff, yammy. and lots lots lots of Rikshas. it is surrounded by beautiful mountainous landscape covered with the Neelakurinji flower. all the mountains look like a mesh of green flat plants. it’s incredible! behind every corner waits another ‘wow’! the landscape, the scenery, how it comes together is amazing.

in the east the upper road is the main road to Kodaikanal where all the tourist attractions are waiting for you together with hundreds of Indian tourists. like a big dam with a lake where you can take a motorboat ride, different small villages with shops of Kerala products, a botanical garden, an elephant farm. but the lower street is much nicer on a motorbike. problem is that it seems that you will only be able to rent a motorbike when you have a drivers license. lucky me again I have my own bike. but there is at least on hotel few meters down the road from old Munnar on the left what rents motorbikes without license ;) anyway, the lower street to the east goes up and down in curves until you reach a huge lake (you probably cannot reach) and silent! just a few people walking between the fields taking small oranges from the trees between the tea. if you want to enter a field it’s on your own risk because the owners are not happy about people entering. but we were fine doing it. ‘we’ means me and a couple from Hong Kong I met and explored the environment with. had two great days! thanks for that, hope you figured out your train and had a nice ride. there is a lot of trekking as well. you can book guided tours to e.x. the highest mountain of south-India; I did not but it must be worth it, if you love trekking. a very famous viewpoint is also in the east. you will have a surrounding view over the whole valley but it is only possible when you go at sunrise take a local bus sleep a while inside and arrive when the clouds have not appeared yet. when you go late during the day it will be just white-grey fog :) take care everybody around the world. don’t waste time not being happy! and don’t lose your hearts ;) or maybe do exactly this……
